The Prevention Centre “ELPIDA” in the framework of the World Day against Drugs, organizes, in cooperation with the Municipality of Kalamaria, an event entitled: “Unlock your choices, free from addictions”, on Wednesday 29 June 2022.
This year, the message of prevention is summarized in the value of being aware of one’s choices and the possibilities that exist, both within oneself and in one’s environment. The use of all the above consists in the formation of a free will for individuals, groups and societies, a will that is not trapped in the monotony and narrow limits of any form of dependency.
The event will take place in the physical presence of the participants, at the Aretsous Square. It will start at 8pm, inviting children and young people to participate in hands-on workshops on the theme of prevention against addictions. At the same time, the dancers of the swing academy will invite the attendees to dance sessions, which will spread in their own way that prevention is sharing, joy, co-creation.
At 9pm the concert of Gadjo Dilo will start, a band that, through the combination of different sounds, will take the audience to a gypsy jazz celebration! The idea of the creative synthesis of different cultures, visuals, elements is particularly familiar to the philosophy of prevention, since it shapes much of its work: interaction with difference engages people in authentic relationships, helps them to accept themselves and others, to communicate, to free themselves from prejudice… in short, to strengthen some primary protective factors against addictions.
