The Experiential Training for Teachers on “Gender stereotypes and prejudices: Their role in education”

With great participation and keen interest from the educational community, was completed on Monday 1 December 2025, the experiential training that a17> organized by the Center for Prevention of Addictions & Promotion of Psychosocial Health “ELPIDA” (K.P. Eastern Thessaloniki), in collaboration with the Deputy Mayor’s Office for Preschool Education, Volunteering and Gender Equality of the Municipality of Kalamaria.

The action, entitled “Gender stereotypes and prejudices: Their role in education,” took place at the premises of the Center for Prevention and a15> was aimed at teachers of Primary and a20> secondary education. Coordinators of the training were Mr. Anastasis Mavromichalis, Psychologist, and the Scientific Director of K.P. “ELPIDA,” Mr. Andreas Meditsos.

The aim of the intervention was to raise awareness among teachers about gender stereotypes that are often unconsciously reproduced in the school environment, as well as to empower them in their role as educators who prevent violence and cultivate a climate of acceptance. Participants had the opportunity to explore personal beliefs and seek ways in which self-awareness can serve as a tool for positive change in the classroom.
