Invitation to participate of teachers in the programs of K.P. ELPIDA

The Center for Prevention “ELPIDA” here and 28 years has been implementing programs for educators, students, and parents, with topics that a15> vary depending on their needs them.

More specifically , the present invitation from us concerns the implementation of long-term programs for mental health for students, with parallel support of teachers who will participate. The long-term programs are the following:

  1. “Meeting the Other,” with the aim of developing and promoting healthy, constructive relationships, both in the workplace and in society at large. constructive relationships, both in the context of the a16> school community as well as outside of it, in everyday life (addressed to all classes).
  2. “Games and the Internet: preventing the risks of use,” with the aim of developing protective factors for a14> a safe and smart use of technology, free from behaviors of abuse and addiction. The program is aimed exclusively to students in fourth, fifth and sixth grades.
  3. “Smoking? Not us”, with the aim of preventing smoking, which is aimed exclusively at students in grades D, E’ and F’ grades and a19> accompanied by material to raise awareness for their parents.
  4. “Addictions,” with the goal of preventing the development of addictive behaviors, which is aimed exclusively to students in fourth, fifth and sixth grades.
  5. “Sex Education,” with the aim of developing a healthy sexuality in children a9> of children with respect for themselves and for a17> others themselves, which is addressed exclusively to students of the fifth and sixth grades.
  6. “I feel safe at school,” with the aim of preventing violence in school and creating a climate of respect and tolerance.” a14> the creation of a climate of safety and trust (addressed to all classes).
  7. “Values of Life in Education,” with the aim of exploring and creatively assimilating the values of life by students (a12) (a13) (a14) (a15) (a16) (a17) (a18) (a19) (a20) (a21) (a22) (a23) (a24) (a25) (a26) (a27) (a28) (a29) (a30) (a31) (a32) (a33) (a34) (a35) (a36) (a37) (a38) (a39) (a40) (a41) (a42) (a43) (a44) (a45) (a46) (a47) (a48) (a49) (a50) (a51) (a52) (a53) (a54) (a55) (a56) (a57) (a58) (a59) (a60) (a61) (a62) (a63) (a64) (a a12> life by the students (addressed to all classes).
  8. “Mental Health – Strengthening of self-esteem,” with the aim of developing a sense of self-esteem and self-acceptance (a13) a13> oneself and self-acceptance (addressed to all grades).

The structure of the programmes is as follows:

  • Implementation introductory educational seminar (2 days, 11 hours) to teachers, with the aim on the one hand of a13> understanding basic concepts of the program on the one hand and familiarization with techniques approaches experiential learning.
  • Supervision team for teachers, coordinated by staff of the “ELPIDA” Prevention Centre. The goal of this specific group will be to support the training of teachers in the implementation of the program. a8> teachers in the application of the educational material to the students. The duration of each meeting will be, approximately, 2 hours, depending on the number of participants. The total number of supervisory meetings will be determined by a35> each group.
  • Parallel application of educational material of the program by the teachers to the students (10 two-hour meetings).

The implementation of any of the above programs is universal. This means that our collaboration with a school requires the participation of a group of 8 to 12 teachers. (In order to have a group of teachers for a program that is not filled by one school, we may collaborate with another school, usually a neighboring one, adding up the teachers who are interested.)

Participants will receive a certificate of participation after the end of the seminar. – after the end of the seminar and the a14> implementation of the program to the students – for the hours of the seminar and the supervision, which exceeds the obligation of teachers for in-school training.

Finally, in order to facilitate the registration of participation of a a8> school unit, we can hold an live informative meeting with a17> with the Association of Teachers and the Directorate, so that to answer questions and to provide clarifications to any questions.

On this occasion, we would like to inform you that the parents of a school unit we address with:

  1. Groups of parents lasting 10 two-hour meetings, with topics related to the parental needs (communication, boundaries, expression of emotions, aggression, etc.)
  2. Speeches to parents, whose topics may arise from cooperation with the school unit and the PTA.
  3. Parent workshops of 3 two-hour sessions, focused on a topic that emerges from the needs of the school community and the family at a given time.
  4. Individual counselling to parents on issues that make it difficult for them in their role.
