RESIST

RESIST is an educational game that attempts to negotiate concepts around prevention in the language of adolescents, using a medium familiar to them such as the computer. It is an innovative effort in the field of educational video games.

In 2008 he participated in the Council of Europe’s European Drug Prevention Prize competition and won the prize of the same name.

Its novelty lies in two main reasons:

  1. there is no experience of similar games focusing on primary prevention
  2. does not intend to immerse the player with hyper real textures, super game engines, elements often found in games that one buys and plays alone, “lost” in the fake reality they create.

In contrast, RESIST, which is aimed at young people aged 12-18, allows the user to see behind the construction and encourages them to express themselves simply by creating their own version and putting their own stamp on the evolution of the game. As he may do in his personal life, based on the variety of alternatives offered to him and the relationships he forms with those around him.
It was based mainly on knowledge gained from many years of implementing primary prevention programmes and young people’s response to them. It is our proposal for possible ways of resisting anything that might endanger our lives, a starting point for more creative and meaningful communication with young people.
It was created in 2007 in the framework of the action “Counselling support to families for the prevention of addictive substances use” which is included in the Project “Revitalization of the Phoenix workers’ housing area in Kalamaria” under measure 3.9 “Integrated urban development interventions in small-scale local zones – ECT” of the Central Macedonia CIP.

In 2014 under the European project Click for Support was used by the Centre for the Prevention of Addictions & Psychosocial Health Promotion “Athena Health” as a good practice online intervention for substance use among young people in Greece.
