Sex education: risks and protective factors
The aim of the programme is to raise awareness of sexuality issues and promote safe sexual behaviour among the school community. The intervention will be universal as it will be addressed to 6th grade and high school students, teachers and parents of children in the above classes.
For each intervention group the objectives are:
- students to:
- understand the changes in adolescence
- understand the concept of sexuality
- understand the dimensions of sexual identity
- identify the risks of risky sexual behaviour
- look for ways to protect themselves from the risks B) parents to:
- explore their personal values, attitudes and knowledge in relation to their sexuality
- enhance their skills in relation to the sexual education of their children
- teachers to:
- recognise the usefulness of sex education
- mobilise for the implementation of sex education programmes
The programme includes:
- for students 4 teaching hours,
- for teachers a 3-hour awareness-raising meeting and
- for parents a 2-hour workshop, which is proposed as an extension.
